BAS / 02 — Picture framing

Built around the art.
Engineered for its future.

Comparison of different glazing options for framed art

BAS designs and makes bespoke frames for artworks, objects, collections, exhibitions and family photographs. Every commission is considered for its setting, scale and long-term care.

Materials

Acid-free mount boards are standard; 100% cotton rag board is used where a work needs it. Conservation tapes, glues and cotton gloves are part of the working method.

Protection

Sunlight, humidity, temperature changes and handling can all damage art. Framing is designed to limit those risks from the outset.

Glazing

Options range from dedicated UV filtering glass to 99% UV-filter reflective glazing, museum anti-reflective water-white glass and anti-scratch acrylic.

Finishes

Alongside contemporary and traditional framing, BAS can advise on gilding and the right visual treatment for a home or exhibition.
